What do I need to get my license?

Birth Ceriticate, Proof of Lawful Citienship ( Passpord ), Social Security Card, ID Card with Photo ( School or work ), Document of Legal Name Change ( Married or Divorce ), Two Proofs of Current Residency ( Utility Bills, Vehicle Registration, Bank Statement ). If under 18, Responsibility Affidavit, School and Progress Affidavit, 50 hour certificate, Out-of-state must have a valid Premit and a Current DMV Record. The Driver License Examiners will verify all license application. A driver license will not be issued to any applicant whose information cannot be verified.

What if I fail?

If you fail the Tennessee DMV Exam the first time, don't worry! You are allowed two re-takes if you do not pass on your first attempt. There will be a $20.00 re-test fee each time after the 3rd failed test. If you are still unsuccessful after three attempts you may be required to return to another class and prepair for a re-test. Additional fees may apply.
